While America and the international community are bullying Iran into allowing U.N. inspectors access to its nuclear plants, Israel is retaining sovereignty of its borders.

Friday, the Washington Times reported that President Obama agreed to allow Israel to continue with its nuclear arsenal exempt from international inspections, reaffirming a decade-old secret.

At first glance, the Obama administrations policy seems unfair — and it is. But more importantly is the notion that Israel is being allowed by the United States to retain secrecy of its national defense.

Israel — like Iran, like America — is a sovereign nation.

Someone should start making patriotic bumper stickers that read: America, policing the world since 1945.

Id buy one.

  1. Jessica,

    Where to start?!

Are you surprised that Israel, Pakistan, India and perhaps South Africa are nuclear powers and have been for decades? How they got there is not the question. What if anything to do about it is.

We are a nuclear power. Do we or have we ever let international inspectors into Los Alamos or Lawrence Livermore labs to inspect our continued work in that arena? Did they ever go into Rocky Flats to inspect how we manufactured warheads or Oak Ridge and Hanford to see how we manufactured the nuclear material for such warheads? Do you suggest we do so now out of “fairness”?

Policing the world since 1945. No doubt we have. Now please blog on your vision of the world today had we not done so. Was the Cold War simply a waste of time and treasure?

Now please read my blog on Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan. I painted a plausible but certainly arguable picture of the world “tomorrow” if we withdrew to “Fortress Americana”. Do you agree with that picture or can you suggest an alternate one?

Will radical Islam fall of its own weight because young people like music, the “freedom” to watch porn, the “freedom” to smoke dope, etc? Ask the young people in Iran today, particularly the young women? Would you like to trade places? Of course not. If you were there (in Iran) would you be looking for a “cop” to show up in your lifetime?

In the above mentioned blog I suggested a world similar to the Seringetti Plain in Africa with survival of the fittest. How would you like to be a “zebra” crossing a river filled with crocidiles and lions waiting on the other bank?

Should “we” be doing something about Darfur? If yes, why there and not “pick you own spot of terrible conditions in the world”?

Did the people of Hungary long for a policeman that would draw the line east of their country in the 1950’s or a Frenchman or West German that thanked God the line was in their favor at that time?

I wonder how many Vietnamese today wished we had won that contest?

Now go put on a “chandra (spl?)” and try to find a school to attend in Afghanistan if we withdraw.

Then answer the question, “what is fair”?
